Recommended Health Testing for Breeders

Testing of breeding stock is very strongly encouraged but not mandatory. The most common recommended tests are:
Hips: Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or Penn Hip
DNA: Canine Multiple System Degeneration (CMSD or PNA), Factor XI
(Hemophilia C), von Willebrand (vWD), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
Additional available tests that could be considered are:
• Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF), Heart, Elbows, Patella’s, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Brucellosis and Canine Herpes
